Youth Policies
Must be 5 years or older to climb
Under 14 must have an adult supervising at all times. Ratio must not exceed 1:2.
Under 14 are not permitted in the fitness area unless directly supervised by an adult
Must be able to properly demonstrate a controlled boulder fall
Must not climb above or below other climbers or walk below other climbers
No running or yelling
No topping out or jumping off walls
No bare feet or street shoes on the climbing wall
All children, parents, guardians and guests must have a waiver on file prior to stepping on the mats. Adults are required to sign waivers for all minors under the age of 18.
Belay Policies
All belay and auto-belay use requires certification from Teton Rock Gym staff. If any tests are failed, they may be retaken the next day.
Top Rope Belay: Restricted to children 14 and older. Must pass the belay test on the first try.
Lead Climbing and Belay: Restricted to climbers ages 14 and older. Must pass a lead climbing and/or belay test on the first try without help.
Auto-Belay Policies: Youth under 14 must be clipped in and supervised by an adult at all times.
Certifications may be revoked at staff’s discretion if:
- Lowering too fast
- Improper Belaying (Lowering too fast, no hand on brake strand, poor belay technique)
- Displaying lack of maturity on ropes
