Climb4Community is a community-supported membership program designed to increase access to climbing while keeping the gym financially sustainable. The program is built around a sliding-scale model that allows members to pay above or below the suggested membership rate based on what they are able to afford. By choosing to contribute what they can, members help ensure access for others while supporting the long-term health of the gym.

Members who can contribute more than the standard membership fee are invited to set their own monthly amount (starting $10 above our $60 base monthly rate).

If you need a reduced rate, you can apply to find out if you qualify for alternative pricing. We are offering limited spots in reduced rate tiers in $10 increments below our base rate.

No matter if you contribute more or less, every member receives full access to all C4C benefits!

Climb4Community is built on trust and shared responsibility. We ask members to choose the rate that best reflects their current financial circumstances so that access can remain available for others. If you’re unsure, we encourage you to choose the highest rate that feels sustainable for you. Requests are reviewed based on current program capacity.

You might consider a standard membership if:

  • You are able to meet your basic needs without difficulty
  • You have stable income or financial support
  • You have flexibility in your budget for things like recreation, travel, or dining out
  • Paying full price is manageable, even if it requires some prioritization

A reduced-rate membership might be a good fit if:

  • Cost is a barrier to participating regularly
  • Your income is limited, inconsistent, or uncertain
  • You are balancing financial obligations that make a standard membership difficult to sustain
  • You do not have access to financial support from family or other sources
faq-2
What is the base membership rate?

The base membership rate at Teton Rock Gym is $60 per month. This rate reflects the cost of operating the facility, supporting staff, and maintaining safe and reliable access to climbing.

Members may choose to pay more than the suggested rate if they are able, or apply to pay less if the suggested rate would create financial strain. Paying more helps support access for others. Paying less helps ensure that cost is not a barrier to participation.

Why would I pay more?

Members who are able to pay above the suggested rate will help sustain the Climb4Community program and expand access for others. Paying above the suggested rate is always optional.

How do I pay less than the base rate?

Climb4Community is intended to support people who would otherwise struggle to afford a standard membership. Members who feel that paying the suggested rate would create real financial strain may apply to pay less.

Reduced-rate memberships are limited and depend on current program capacity and overall sustainability. Not all requests can be approved at all times.

How does the application process work?

To apply for a Climb4Community membership at a reduced rate, members are asked to share some information about household income, how much they are able to pay and provide a brief explanation of why Climb4Community would be helpful for them at this time. We do not ask for any kind of proof or verification of income, please do not send any kind of financial statements. Applications are reviewed individually and confidentially and accepted based on availability of slots at the various reduced rate tiers.

Is Climb4Community right for me?

Climb4Community is designed to support access for people who would otherwise have difficulty affording a membership.

If paying the suggested rate would create financial strain for you right now, this program may be a good fit.

If you are currently able to meet your basic expenses without difficulty, we encourage you to consider paying the base rate or above so that Climb4Community can remain available to those who need it most.

If you are unsure, you are welcome to apply. Requests are reviewed based on current capacity.

What is the program capacity and availbility?

The program is reliant on community support. As we launch, we are offering a limited number of spots for new, and existing members to ensure sustainability. We will be continuously assessing how many are participating to determine whether we are able to expand the program, and other ways in which it could be supported.

Do I get the reduced rate forever?

Reduced-rate memberships are granted for a 12 month period. We will then move members up a tier to create room for more participants. Membership rates will be assessed periodically and are not guaranteed to remain the same.

What is the community fund?

Contributions from members who pay above the suggested rate help support reduced-rate memberships and other access initiatives at the gym. The goal of the program is to balance contributions and support in a way that keeps the program sustainable over time.
